How to Improve production and profitability in your chiropractic practice
Glassdoor is an American website that offers support for job seekers and employers.
It also has a service that provides anonymous reviews of major companies from current or former employees.
The reviews are rated 1-5 along this type of scale:
5. Stars: Very satisfied. Excellent work culture, strong leadership, and comprehensive benefits.
4. Stars: Satisfied. Positive work environment, good leadership, and fair compensation, though minor improvements could be made.
3. Stars: Neutral. Average experience with room for improvement in several areas like career growth and company culture.
2. Stars: Dissatisfied. There are notable issues with management and company culture, indicating a need for significant improvement.
1. Star: Very dissatisfied. Employees feel undervalued, with poor work-life balance, inadequate compensation, and ineffective leadership.
SAMPLE EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION SURVEY CULLED FROM GLASSDOOR
I poked around the Glassdoor website and captured these ratings:
Parker Chiropractic College 4.3
Delta Dental 3.9
Froedtert Hospital 3.8
Health Source Chiropractic 3.7
Western States Chiro. College 3.6
Starbucks 3.6
Aurora Hospital 3.5
McDonald's 3.5
Joint Chiropractic 3.2
Aspen Dental 2.8
ChiroOne 2.6
It is a no-brainer to conclude that the higher the rating, the more productive and profitable the company. There are plenty of studies that demonstrate this.*
So, you must consider: How does our practice rate?
5 FACTORS TO IMPROVE YOUR CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH
Wherever your practice would land on this 1-5 scale, you can improve it. Glassdoor research shows these are the most common factors influencing employee ratings.
Workplace Culture. Employees often rate their satisfaction with the company's culture, which includes the work environment, values, mission, philosophy, and team dynamics. What is the vibe?
Management Quality: Leadership effectiveness and management style are critical factors that impact ratings. And according to Gallup, this is the number one factor.*
Compensation and Benefits: Fairness and competitiveness of salary and benefits packages are frequently evaluated.
Work-Life Balance: Employees consider how well the company supports a balance between work responsibilities and personal life.
Career Opportunities: Opportunities for growth and advancement within the company are important to many reviewers.
ADMINISTRATION SUPPORTS CLINICAL CARE
Do you notice how none of these 5 factors have much to do with clinical procedures?
The primary focus of any doctor is high-quality outcomes and service. Quality Counts!
But, to deliver that quality, you need a smooth-running business managed by motivated and caring people who love what they do. That is the job of leadership and management. That is admin!
And it is for this reason that we have begun our practice MBA programs. (Our next one will include a mini-Executive MBA for clinic directors and clinic directors to be!)
Let's not be smug, but no matter how you are doing, I am sure you are beating the companies at the bottom of the scale above.
But keep improving, and …
Carpe Diem (Seize the Future),
Ed
