The Greater Purpose of Chiropractic and Natural Health
Gallup is an American multinational analytics company providing global analytics and management consulting to organizations. Its methodology is scientific.
Through this extensive data collection and analysis, Gallup has been able to identify emerging trends and shifts in attitudes, which have contributed to the concept of the "New Will of the World." This includes changes in workplace expectations, evolving societal values, and new priorities among different generations.
What is this "New Will?" It encompasses major shifts in social values, including a desire for meaningful, purpose-driven work. This means that your team has a yearning for something more than just a job or a "gig." And your patients, as well, look for more meaning and purpose in their lives.
"So what?" you say. What does this have to do with me and our practice?
MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN
The phrase "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) was coined by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his campaign team during his presidential run. While it initially served as a slogan for Kennedy's independent campaign, it has since evolved into a broader movement.
Robert Kennedy Jr has long advocated for chiropractic and natural health care. I attended a chiropractic seminar and dinner with him (yea CalJam!), and even before, at a lecture in the 1990's on environmental pollution in the Great Lakes.
"Make America Healthy Again" can be a rallying point for your office team and your patients.
In my lifetime, I have never known anyone in a governmental office as elevated as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, to be pro-chiropractic, for that matter, pro-natural healthcare.
Some of his immediate projects include:
Nutrition and Food Policy: Kennedy is focusing on improving nutrition. This includes revamping the FDA office responsible for nutrition labeling, increasing oversight of ultra-processed foods, and potentially banning certain food additives and chemicals.
Reducing Pesticide Use: He plans to enforce stricter pesticide residue limits and incentivize farmers to transition to regenerative and no-till farming practices that rely less on chemicals.
Revising Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA): Kennedy aims to use the DGA to promote healthier diets that support sustainable farming practices. He has proposed emphasizing whole foods, organic options, and regenerative agriculture while reducing corporate influence in shaping these guidelines.
Revised Regulations for Small Producers: Kennedy has pledged to rewrite regulations to provide smaller farmers with a fairer playing field.
You can provide a work environment that has more meaning than ever before by connecting your team to the idea of "Making America Healthy Again." (I would emphasize that this has nothing to do with the drama around politics. RFKjr was running for president originally as a Democrat and then switched to being an independent candidate. He was chairman and chief legal counsel for Children's Health Defense from 2015 to 2023, and before that, was a successful environmental lawyer.)
You could consider a local chapter – Make (your town) Healthy Again. Connect with health food stores, gyms, local farmers, ranchers, and cooks. Set up workshops and invite local community health members to give a talk or podcast. Of course, integrate what they do with your services.
We have done golf and cooking workshops with professionals, for example, and always had excellent outcomes. You can encourage your team to select a monthly health theme and work out how to promote it.
Your team wants work that has meaning beyond the day-to-day, and your patients look for a greater purpose than just pain relief. This is an opportunity to connect your team and community to a higher mission and the New Will of the World.
